First Post/ Review of Automaton Transfusion

Okay, this is my first movie review. If I said I was a fan of film and video that wouldn't mean a whole lot since everyone is their own movie critic. My purpose is to write down my take on some movies. Hopefully it will allow me to put into words how I feel about certain movies and also be at least a little interesting for whoever should read this. I feel that I am very passionate about movies. They can be cathartic and allow us to live as the people in films for around that 90 to 120 minutes. In this first review, or in any other review that I leave, it is not my purpose to tear down the maker of the film, but only express my personal views.

The movie, Automaton Transfusion, is what is wrong with Indie horror. It is the story of some high school kids who are trying to survive an outbreak of zombies. That is pretty much the plot. They go to different locations and wrestle with different zombies. The film quality is horrible and, if the camera is actually still enough so that you can make out what is being filmed, it is blurry. I'm not kidding.

This goes on through the whole film. Then, about 10 minutes before it ends a strange storyline is added to the film. It sounds like there may be something sinister in the little town and now the hero and his girlfriend are on a quest. After running away from some more zombies and some military in psuedo HAZMAT suites, the screen goes black and in big red letters, "To Be Continued" appears.

I'll break down the other reasons this movie should be avoided:

No plot, for the most part.

Inadequate character development.

Poor acting.

Horrible video/film quality.
It did have a large cast of extras which helped a bit, but so much of it was bad, it didn't matter.

Here's the bottom line. Just because a person has the money to make a film, doesn't mean that they can make a good film. The film maker is a young guy who aspires to make bigger and better movies, I'm sure. But this movie is in Blockbuster, for goodness sake. I'm wondering how a movie that is that bad actually gets the green light to be available in Blockbuster? Are we now trying to support bad film makers? Is this how Michael Bay got his start? (cheap shot, sorry) I surely hope this ends with this film, or at least, if there is a second, someone who has some talent gets connected to it.
